FAQ’s

  • What furniture do we need to sort ourselves?

We have benches, a bar unit, outdoor festoon lighting and some comfortable outdoor seating. Therefore you shoudl consider the following in your budget:

    • Tables & Chairs

    • Special lighting (Fairy lights etc)

    • Additional tables (cake etc)

  • Is the barn heated?

We have tried to plug the drafts and have a space heater so at this stage there is limited heating apart. BUT The Undercroft heats easily and the Shippen Bar is very snug!

  • Are you licensed for weddings?

Yes! You need to head to the Cumbria Registrars to find a slot though:

  • Can we have additional days or nights?

Yes, we can hire out the Undercroft and Sheep Yard for the Friday night if you need space, just ask about prices.

For the hotel, contact them direct.

  • What do our Caterers have to use?

They have a space which is enclosed and just off the barn with power and water (hot and cold). There is also a large table and side unit.

Depending on your menu and their needs, you might require ovens, fryers, fridge unit or more tables.

Best thing is to send them the cheat sheet we have made and get them to come and view the site before quoting. They can just contact us direct to organise that.

  • Is someone there to help on the day?

Weddings by Annabel not only have a team member there to coordinate on the day, but Annabel will open her diary for two consultations for you throughout planning. Great way to use her expert knowledge to guide your DIY wedding!

  • Can we camp near the Venue?

We can allow up to four campervans at £25 each but they can’t be powered or have access to water. One or tow nights with access to our loos should be ok for them though.

  • Is there parking?

Yes, we have space for around 25 cars at the barn and then Crow How guests have their own parking too.

  • Is the site wheelchair accessible?

Yes, it is though to get from downstairs to upstairs you would need to go externally as there is no lift.
