Blogg from Hogg

And the story begins….

Family farm, family run, family built. This venue has so many stories to tell and personalities to share! We thought we would start with the biggest personality of all, Hogg.

A male lamb less than a year old will have two teeth.

When Christopher was less than a year old he cut his front two teeth and his elder brothers (Jimmy, Boo and Sam) nicknamed him Hogg.

Loves sheep – Favourite breed of ewe, Swaledale. Favourite tup, Skidmore.

Hates paperwork and bureaucracy.

Hobbies – Rugby – Used to play but can now only watch.

Has knees of an eighty year old but still thinks he’s 20.

Thinks he’s Paul Newman.

Worst day of his life – The day he went to IKEA.

Musical taste – Loves Kylie and Dolly hates grime and anything his children listen to.

Doesn’t believe in Christmas, Mindfulness or spending money.

Loves tea. (Piss Willy not builders).

Dislikes technology, particularly digital forms of communication.

Terrible at time keeping, his minutes are different to everyone else’s.

Loves westerns, particularly old black and white versions.

Greatest skill – Teaching Daisy to bark on command when he says “Herdwick”

We laugh most at his take on the English language! This isnt Cumbrian dialect, though that is thrown in there too. This is Hoggs own dictionary! Let us introduce you to some and for more keep an eye on our social media streams!!

The weather is soutry - The weather conditions are poor.

Ratching sheep – sheep that like to escape (usually Herdwick)

Demicky lamb – Sickly lamb (probably about to die)

He/she’s like a “broken down camel”– a person who is lame

Does this paint a picture of a Cumbrian Farmer? We think so!

If you head to the Barn for a visit, lets hope you get to meet the team behind this, especially Daisy!
